Terroists of the National Revolution: Vichy France and the Dormoy Assasination - OLLI-CSUF Electics I Series
Start Date: 3/21/2017Start Time: 10:00 AM
End Date: 3/21/2017End Time: 11:30 AM
Event Description:

In the spring of 1941, the ruler of Vichy France ordered that former French Interior Minister Marx Dormoy be released from prison and placed under house arrest in a hotel. Dormoy had been arrested because he had been a staunch supporter of the hated Third Republic. On the night of July 25, 1941, a gang of assassins hid a time bomb under Dormoy’s mattress and killed him.

Gayle Brunell, a CSUF professor of history, will discuss these events - based on her book project with Annette Finley-Croswhite of Old Dominion University. She will explore who these terrorists were, what they meant by a “national revolution” and why they targeted Marx Dormoy.

This Osher Lifelong Learning Institute class is open to the public. For more information: (657) 278-2446, olli-info@fullerton.edu, olli.fullerton.edu.
